The district of Constance wants to merge the two vocational schools Zeppelin-Gewerbeschule and the commercial Wessenberg-Schule into the new joint "Berufsschulzentrum Konstanz" at the Zeppelin-Gewerbeschule site. 

The existing buildings will be demolished in four interlinked construction phases between 2022 and 2028. High-quality new buildings with rooms for natural sciences, workshops, a canteen, an archive and a three-court sports hall will gradually be built. Sustainable concepts will be applied in the changing educational landscape. These include flexible teaching and learning environments, places of retreat and collaboration areas. The future vocational school center is also impressive from an energy perspective: It meets the requirements of the NBBW (Sustainable Building Baden-Württemberg) and has achieved DGNB Gold status. In addition, further building blocks from the Cradle to Cradle® approach will be integrated. 

Drees & Sommer managed the planning competition in accordance with RPW for the project planning services as well as other planner selection procedures in accordance with VgV, UVgO. In addition, the company was awarded the project management contract and a mandate for sustainability consulting. Drees & Sommer was also responsible for workshop planning.
