The maintenance center in the Swiss city of Basel was built in 1913. It consists of a 120 meter long service facility with 6 tracks. The complex was originally built to work on passenger carriages and locomotives, and it went through a constant process of alteration due to the continued development of passenger transport. Due to the future operation of the ICE4 and IC2 trains, further alteration work to part of the repair hall is necessary by December 2019. The structural alterations especially affect tracks 84 and 86.
