New working and living space was developed on the site of the former PHOENIX steel industry premises in Dortmund-Hörde as part of the Emscher Country Park: PHOENIX West comprises a technology and service park on a 110 hectare site. The eastern part combines work and high-quality residential and leisure facilities on an area of 96 hectares. PHOENIX Ost/See (East/Lake) includes an ecologically valuable 24 hectare city lake with a depth of up to three metres. The northern and southern shores of the lake will be lined with a variety of high-quality housing (maximum 2,000 housing units).
