EWE, the northern German energyprovider, isbuildingoneofEurope'slargest hydrogen production plants in Emden. Siemens Energy issupplyingthe 280-megawatt electrolysis plant, whichisscheduledtostartproductionin 2027. The heartofthe 320-megawatt plant will producearound 26,000 tonnesofgreen hydrogen per yearusing PEM technology. The projectispartofthe Clean Hydrogen Coastlineprogramme, whichisbeingfundedwithmorethan €500 millionfromfederal and stategovernments.
