Ditzingen 3.4 Production hall, logistics hall, 2019

Production hall 3.6 was completed for machine tool manufacturer TRUMPF on their site in Ditzingen back in May 2018. The new production areas, clean rooms, test areas and offices have a total area of nearly 34,000 m².

A special challenge resulted from additions and modifications to requirements during the construction phase, leading to several changes in planning. For example, the class IV cleanrooms for the production of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology were expanded to an area of 2,500 m² and adapted to the TRUMPF’s new production requirements. The subsequent installation of a customized cleaning system also required planning with millimeter precision.

The conversion of production hall 3.4 took place in 2019 with no interruption of production operations. A new logistics hall was built alongside Hall 3.4, more than doubling the number of production stations.

A further laboratory was built in the basement of the building, also during ongoing operation. The laboratory power supply and the cooling technology played a crucial role.

Thanks to the experienced Drees & Sommer construction management team, work was successful adapted to the dynamic environment. In close cooperation with their partners, TRUMPF Lasersystems for Semiconductor Manufacturing GmbH was thus able to bring the EUV technology to industrial maturityin this project.
