VfR Aalen's promotion to the regional league resulted in the German Football Association demanding that a number of changes be made to the existing Waldstadion. The stadium should be expanded to a capacity of 11,232 spectators. This involved constructing a covered stand as well as a standing terrace on a steel and concrete construction.
