Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB e.V.) and EPEA GmbH – Part of Drees & Sommer have entered a cooperation agreement for the integration of the digital tool ProCA in the navigator of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The collaboration aims at further facilitating access to structured and validated construction product data for planners, auditors and manufacturers in order to enhance the efficiency and transparency of building sustainability certifications.
The new interface will enable construction product manufacturers to automatically transfer their product data on a quality-assured basis, via the EPEA tool ProCA, in the navigator of the German Sustainable Building Council. This will make it very easy for manufacturers to verify large quantities of building products in accordance with the quality standards for healthy construction products as issued by the German Sustainable Building Council. Planners and auditors in particular benefit from this, as the building product information will be reliable and always up to date. So, materials research will be much easier and planning become safer. Both partners have long-standing experience in consulting on sustainable building products, and valuation and verification processes. The German Sustainable Building Council provides Germany’s leading certification system; EPEA is a pioneer in the fields of ecological construction and the assessment of product conformity with the requirements of ESG criteria and green building standards.
Marcel Özer, Managing Director at EPEA GmbH comments: “With ProCA we create a digital bridge between construction product manufacturers and the demands of sustainable building certifications. Our collaboration with the German Sustainable Building Council is an important step towards establishing structured product data with sustainability information as a standard in the construction and real estate industry.“
One focus of the partnership is on supporting the various stakeholders in the construction process:
manufacturers can launch their products on the market in a more visible way, and independently audited;
planners and auditors gain access to validated, structured product data for their certification projects;
investors and project developers benefit from more transparency and reliability in ESG and Taxonomy compliant construction projects.
DGNB and EPEA have joined forces in order to promote digital transition and quality assurance in sustainable construction. Other joint steps are planned to enhance structured product data throughout the certification process. “The use of end-to-end digital processes can help to reduce processing costs and boost the integration of sustainability criteria into construction projects,“ says Johannes Kreißig, Chief Executive Officer of DGNB.
