What does a city look like in which energy flows reliably? Where waterarrives safely and mobility is fun? Where we can live well even in hot weather or during power cuts? We presented the right solutions at the Greentech Festival in Berlin.
To show festival visitors the challenges of today's and tomorrow's cities, we had already built the “city of tomorrow” out of Lego bricks. This enabled our experts to make key future issues tangible. These range from a sustainable energy supply and climate-friendly mobility to efficient social infrastructure and secure digital networks.
In addition, our experts joined representatives from politics, business and research on panels to discuss how digitalization, the circular economy, smart energy storage, sustainable building and living and artificial intelligence (AI) are driving the transformation of cities. The clear result: the solutions are there, now it's time to implement them.
There was also plenty on offer at the festival away from the panels. Among other things, the circular table tennis table by EPEA GmbH – Part of Drees & Sommer proved to be a hotspot for informal matches and networking. In addition, political and press tours with Kai Wegner (Governing Mayor of Berlin), Franziska Giffey (Senator for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises and Mayor of Berlin), Ute Bonde (Senator for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment of Berlin) and Sandra Stein (Member of the Bundestag for Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) met with lively interest.
The conclusion of our specialists on site: the city of the future is complex – but it can be shaped. With well thought-out infrastructures, clever planning and the courage to break new ground!
