Frankfurt am Main, Germany, October 21, 2020. Stuttgart-based Drees & Sommer SE specializes in construction and real estate planning and consulting. The company’s staff in the German city of Frankfurt am Main will move from the current location at Schmidtstrasse 51 to the Oststern project at Hanauer Landstrasse 123. The move is planned for December 2022. The new premises will comprise around 5,500 square meters of floor space. Drees & Sommer signed a long-term rental agreement for the offices with the Frankfurt real estate developer Lang & Cie. in September. Lang & Cie. is currently completing the innovative, sustainable office building in Frankfurt’s Ostend district. Drees & Sommer obtained advice on leasing the premises from Black Olive.

Marc Schömbs, Partner at Drees & Sommer SE, commented: ‘The new location on Hanauer Landstrasse offers our staff of more than 500 in Frankfurt an innovative, convertible office space in an ideal location with very good infrastructure. Looking to the future with confidence, we chose premises that we can extend, if necessary.

They will also meet the increased demands on the working environment arising from our steadily expanding range of services into the future. The new offices also offer better accommodation for our clients and visitors, who will also be able to reach us more easily in our new location, close to the city center with very good connections to public local transport. Our decision is a clear acknowledgment of the positive growth prospects of the city of Frankfurt am Main and the entire Rhine-Main region.’

Keeping Up With Growth in the Rhine-Main Region

The area is characterized by economic strength and dynamism, and is noted for its large, complex construction projects. Frankfurt am Main – often referred to by the nickname Mainhattan – is known as Germany’s city of skyscrapers. Frankfurt Airport is an international passenger hub. The city has developed into Europe’s data center capital, with the world’s largest internet exchange points. The main focuses of Drees & Sommer’s Frankfurt office reflect this. The planning and consulting company has overseen the construction or refurbishment of a large number of the skyscrapers located in this largest city of the German federal state of Hesse. Marc Schömbs noted: ‘As a holistic real estate consultant, we provide support to German and international real estate investors. The development and construction of data centers in the region is part of our core business.’

Major projects currently being overseen include the campus of Deutsche Bundesbank in Frankfurt’s Ginnheim district; the FOUR skyscraper project in the heart of Frankfurt; the new Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport; and the FAIR international particle accelerator facility in the neighboring city of Darmstadt.

The expert explained that, overall, Drees & Sommer pursues a regional growth strategy in the Rhine-Main region. In November 2020, the company will increase its presence in the region by opening a branch office in the city of Mainz. The newly furbished premises will be located in the Rheinkontor building in the new Zollhafen city quarter. The around 470 square meters of office space are being let to the company by the LBBW Immobilien Group.

Frankfurt Location’s Offering Expanded

Drees & Sommer has had an office in Frankfurt am Main since 1988. There, it has made a name for itself as a project steerer and project manager on a large number of skyscraper and infrastructure projects. The Frankfurt location’s offering has grown steadily. From the integrated planning of all trades to holistic real estate consulting, there have been further developments in recent years, mainly reflecting the new work environment, digital transformation and sustainability. Drees & Sommer now sees itself as a provider of solutions rather than services.
