A strong presence at the Silicon Saxony Days 2026: the semiconductor industry between innovation and pace

More than 2,000 industry professionals gathered in Dresden to discuss the future of the semiconductor industry. Together with strong partners, we were right in the thick of it, providing clear answers to the industry’s challenges.
The Silicon Saxony Days 2026 once again demonstrated the dynamism and relevance of Europe’s leading microelectronics cluster. For three days at Dresden Airport, participants engaged in intensive discussions, networking, and forward-thinking.
Over 2,000 representatives from companies, research institutions, startups, and politics gathered at a location that, like few others, epitomizes the future of microelectronics.
Saxony brings together global technology companies, specialized SMEs, and a strong innovation network. This is exactly where Drees & Sommer comes in: Our experts Alexander Braun, Benjamin Schultes, Marcel Roll, and Ramona Thumm exchanged ideas on-site regarding current developments and concrete solutions.
The focus was on the major challenges facing the industry: supply chains, skilled labor, geopolitical dependencies, and new regulatory requirements are colliding with rapidly rising demand and intense global competition. At the same time, it became clear which levers are now critical:
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Hardware, software, artificial intelligence, manufacturing, and cleanroom technology are becoming more closely integrated.
- Scalable Solutions: Innovation must be rapidly implementable, robust, and sustainable.
- High-Performance High-Tech Factories: Flexible semiconductor fabs ensure Europe’s future competitiveness.
Together with our partners UNIT4 GmbH & Co. KG - part of Drees & Sommer, Industry Consulting Strobl, and C4C Consulting for Cleanrooms GmbH - we discussed in a well-attended lounge how complex projects can be implemented in a more structured, faster, and more reliable manner. The positive response demonstrated just how great the need is for best practices and integrated approaches.
A particularly significant gesture was the visit by a diplomatic delegation from Switzerland. It underscored the international importance of microelectronics and Europe’s role in global value chains.
Conclusion:
The Silicon Saxony Days 2026 make it clear that the future of the semiconductor industry lies in the interplay of technology, cooperation, and scalable solutions. Drees & Sommer brings the right expertise to the table - across the entire lifecycle of high-tech facilities, from strategy through planning to operations.
