One of the most extraordinary office buildings was built on the banks of the Spree in Berlin: The Terrace. Drees & Sommer was responsible for the digitalization concept, brand experience, and workplace design for the new construction project. Now a film shows what makes the building so special.
The Terrace is one of the smartest office buildings in the world. The special thing about this: not only does a high SmartScore show this transparently, but the workplace concept and interior design of the building are also forward-looking.
The Terrace is the last component of ANH Hausbesitz’s striking architectural ensemble on the banks of the Spree in Charlottenburg. The office building already shows how digital technology will shape buildings in the future: sensors in The Terrace record usage and presence data as well as meter values in order to further optimize building control.
This is why The Terrace received a Platinum SmartScore certification level, making the seven-story building with 7,800 square meters of gross floor area the smartest building in the world. It also received the Gold WiredScore certificate, which attests to its excellent connectivity, digital infrastructure, and reliability. Drees & Sommer supported ANH through the certification process.
The outstanding design quality of the workspace was also recognized as one of the best 50 Workspaces 2023 and received a special mention at the German Design Awards and an iF Design Award. The design concept relies on an interplay of colors, materials, and reflections with generous exterior covers. The users come together in an inspiring working environment where collaboration zones alternate with concentration zones and a marketplace is the hub for the community.
