Modernizing a regional transport hub with step-free access, an upgraded passenger underpass and sustainable drainage.

Every day, 8,000 passengers start or end their journey at Aulendorf station in Baden-Württemberg. To make the station fit for the future, DB InfraGO AG is transforming this regional transport hub with a strong focus on accessibility, operational efficiency and sustainable design.

As part of Baden-Württemberg’s station modernization program, the project will improve the passenger experience and create more resilient operations. A new design concept and a modernized passenger underpass will make the station clearer and more welcoming. Raised platforms and new lifts will provide step-free access between the underpass and all stopping points. A new drainage concept, including a stormwater retention basin, will support sustainable water management on site.

Integrated Expertise from Planning to Delivery

Drees & Sommer is steering the project and supporting DB InfraGO AG throughout delivery. The work has to be carefully coordinated around live rail operations, a tight planning environment and numerous interfaces between trades. The team keeps the program moving by bringing together technical expertise, clear communication, and practical problem-solving. This is particularly important where complex ground conditions, foundation works, and changes to the passenger underpass create additional challenges. By identifying risks early and keeping decisions transparent, Drees & Sommer helps the project team respond quickly, resolve issues before they escalate, and maintain progress towards a modern, accessible station.
