With its colorful façade, the Automobility Incubator on the Automotive Campus in Bissen makes a powerful statement – and not just visually. Functionally, the three-floor building acted as a hub for innovative companies focused on sustainable mobility. Trends such as modularity, new technologies, and the protection of natural resources played an important role in this. The Incubator was built according to the principles of the circular economy and has since served as a model for future administrative buildings.

The Cycle of Raw Materials

The Drees & Sommer team enabled the project to get off to a successful start with preliminary planning investigations. With the technical building equipment, the experts created the basis for energy-efficient and economical operation.

When selecting the materials, the project manager followed the Cradle to Cradle® principle. This meant opting for materials that are reusable, pose no risks to human health, and have a low carbon footprint.

The project used Building Information Modeling (BIM), which improved the design and construction. The digital building model bundled all relevant information, increasing transparency and reducing planning errors and collisions on the construction site. Drees & Sommer took over the BIM management and reliably steered the project to its goal.

The sustainable building of the Automobility Incubator Bissen is one of our Top Projects – a category reserved for work we are especially proud of. These projects have not only delivered exceptional value for our clients, but have also shaped us as a company.

Why is the Automobility Incubator Bissen one of our Top Projects

  • Strong focus on circular economy: The project consistently meets the Cradle to Cradle® goals and enables recycling and reuse right from the planning stage.
  • Consistent use of sustainable materials: The construction is characterized by extensive use of wood, steel, and health-friendly building materials, which are easier to dismantle and reuse. The team minimized CO₂-intensive building materials such as concrete.
  • A pioneering impetus for Luxembourg's innovation landscape: The Incubator acts as a catalyst for start-ups and visionary companies driving sustainable mobility, strengthening Luxembourg's role as a place of innovation.
