Construction of a New Energy Center at Putzmeister, Aichtal

Driving the transition from fossil fuels to efficient, sustainable heating solutions

Putzmeister is replacing its existing fossil fuel-based heat generation with a modern 2 MW woodchip heating system at its headquarters in Aichtal. In doing so, the company is actively advancing its sustainability goals while reducing reliance on fossil fuel energy sources. 

Drees & Sommer are currently supporting this construction project with project management as well as technical and economic advisory services. 

However, at the outset, it became clear that key prerequisites for the project’s success were missing. Planning was undocumented, contracts had already been awarded, and the proposed energy concept was insufficient. 

Our first step was to restructure the project with transparency, review the proposed concept, realign processes, and establish clear measures for budget control and sustainability targets. 

The overall goal of the project is to improve energy efficiency and ensure long-term viability.
