Green-Blue Campus – HTW Berlin
Climate adaptation and biodiversity: Sustainable campus development for the future
A campus as a model for climate adaptation: Unsealing, greening and smart rainwater management are creating a sustainable place to learn and work.
Vision and objectives
The HTW Berlin's ‘Green-Blue Campus’ project is a forward-looking initiative for climate adaptation and sustainable development of the Wilhelminenhof campus. The aim is to significantly improve the quality of life and biodiversity through unsealing, extensive greening, reallocation of traffic areas and innovative rainwater management. This will make the campus more resistant to heat and heavy rain and develop it into an attractive place to learn and work.
Our role
Drees & Sommer provided comprehensive procurement law support for the project. This included:
- Developing a strategic schedule and action plan
- Advising on the selection and design of the procurement procedures
- Preparing all procurement documents (service descriptions, evaluation matrix, forms)
- Operational support for the tendering processes – from answering bidders' questions to the award decision
A particular focus was placed on integrating the requirements for sustainable, climate-adapted campus development into the procurement processes. Holistic rainwater management was specifically integrated into the service specifications.
Added value
- Climate adaptation and resilience for protection against heat and heavy rainfall
- Promotion of biodiversity through unsealing and greening
- Innovative rainwater management using cisterns, infiltration ditches and smart irrigation
- Holistic consulting from strategy to operational implementation
- Sustainable campus development as a guideline for future projects
Services
- Strategic, overarching schedule
- Contract management for planning services
- Operational implementation of procedures
- Establishment of a project management tool
- Content-related consulting on ‘green-blue infrastructure’/rainwater management as a guideline for contract awarding
