Since the 1970s, the “Blaue Bock” has characterized the center of Magdeburg. In 2014, Städtische Werke Magdeburg bought the vacant prefabricated building with the blue facade from the GDR era. Three years later, they decided to demolish it in order to build a new head office there. For the project, Städtische Werke Magdeburg commissioned the team at Drees & Sommer.

To this end, the experts managed and advised the project in an agile manner to enable the best possible technical and economic solutions. Despite the supply bottlenecks caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Städtische Werke was able to open the head office under the well-known name and on schedule in April 2021.

Now, the “Blaue Bock” is a workplace for around 370 employees. There is also capacity for retail space on the ground floor and first floor, allowing the building to be used for a variety of purposes. Visitors can enjoy the Skybar on the 12th floor, which is 45m above the ground.

The building also has two-level underground parking ramp with electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
