New Electronic Interlocking Systems South of Göttingen

Deutsche Bahn Modernizes Interlocking Technology to Future-Proof Infrastructure

© Drees & Sommer

Client

DB InfraGo AG

Location

Göttingen, Germany

Project duration

January 2023 – December 2033

Other characteristics

- Route length: approx. 70 km
- New construction of modular electronic interlocking buildings
- Modification and adaptation of level crossings

Drees & Sommer is helping Deutsche Bahn modernize its interlocking technology to ensure long-term infrastructure availability and performance along the Göttingen to Bad Sooden-Allendorf route. The project overhauls control and safety technology across all interfaces and equips several level crossings with new safety systems.

Targeted measures, such as adding new tracks and optimizing connections, will significantly increase network flexibility. These structural upgrades will decisively improve the efficiency and safety of regional rail traffic, which is critical given the route's heavy freight volumes.

Transitioning from legacy equipment to modern electronic interlocking systems (ESTW) forms the core of this project.

Drees & Sommer experts are working closely with the client, applying a flexible, solution-oriented approach to drive successful implementation.
