For decades, the striking Citroën buildings on Stadionplein were a landmark in Amsterdam. The characteristic Citroën Zuidgarage (1931) and Noordgarage (1962) were given a new purpose as a multifunctional multi-tenant building under the name "The Olympic Amsterdam."

Bouwinvest renovated the former Citroën garages into office buildings with a total floor area of approximately 25,000 m2. Care was taken to restore the original details of the monumental buildings and remove the messy renovations of the past decades. The existing buildings became much more accessible and attractive. Drees & Sommer (formerly BOAG) was commissioned by Bouwinvest to work on the transformation of the characteristic garages.

From Citroen Building South to the collective building MOVE
The former Citroen Building South has been renovated and extended to become MOVE, a contemporary collective building for high-quality office, retail, and hospitality functions. A large part of the workshop was demolished and a new wing was added to the building, in keeping with the original architectural style. The renovation works restored the original, refined detailing of the facades. During the construction work, Drees & Sommer monitored the progress and quality of the renovation and new building.

From Citroen Building North to the multifunctional De Garage
The second, northern Citroën garage was redeveloped into the multi-purpose The Garage, a building with multi-tenant office function, catering facilities, and a car park. During the redevelopment, the existing listed building was completely refurbished. To make it suitable for this use, two atria were added for additional daylight and a new roof structure was added to the building. On behalf of Bouwinvest, Drees & Sommer handled the process and, in particular, the project management.

Added value

After the main supplier dropped out, Drees & Sommer (formerly BOAG) took over responsibility for managing the subcontractors together with the project team.
