AI in focus: Drees & Sommer intensifies use of artificial intelligence internally and externally

AI offers enormous potential for the construction and real estate industry. From the outset, Drees & Sommer has worked hard to systematically integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into internal work processes and external projects.

Whether as an innovation driver, efficiency enhancer or quality improvement tool - looking to the future, one thing is certain: AI is taking the construction and real estate industry to the next level.

For Drees & Sommer, too, the topic of artificial intelligence has become an integral part of everyday work. Together with various departments, the experts from the Innovation Center are working on AI solutions and concrete use cases that increase the efficiency and quality of the various processes and procedures. The highest security standards and a secure test environment form the basis. The focus is on people: The use of all tools should improve and facilitate our work.

An excerpt from current projects on the topic of AI:

  • Internally, more and more AI-based tools are being used. These include Microsoft products such as AzureOpenAI and Bing Chat Enterprise.
  • The Drees & Sommer experts are working on several AI products, such as a PDF chat for interactive exchange with PDFs, which can be used to summarise content, generate lists or provide concrete answers to questions.
  • An internal "Dreso-GPT" is currently being developed, which will bundle company-related information and in future be available to employees as a knowledge database. Large Language Models (LLM) such as ChatGPT or Google Bard are changing the way search engines are used. In the future, for example, Dresos will be able to search for complex questions instead of individual terms.

What all these tools have in common is that they operate in a protected environment with the highest standards of cyber security.

In addition, the ideas developed at the first AI Ideathon in Stuttgart will be taken to the next stage of development. They will be pursued using various innovation methods to harness the innovation potential of colleagues for digital solutions. And the second AI Ideathon is already in the starting blocks at the end of November to further stimulate the exchange of ideas within the company.

A new learning offer for all Dresos rounds off the programme. The aim is to promote the exchange of ideas, to use the technologies in everyday work and to break down any possible inhibition thresholds at an early stage.
