Crematorium, Munich
Replacement construction of the crematorium at Munich's Ostfriedhof cemetery completed on time and within budget
With the construction of the new crematorium at Munich's Ostfriedhof cemetery, a sensitive place of final farewell has been translated into a contemporary architectural language. The design by Beer Bembé Dellinger Architects impressed with its clear, minimalist design language and won the competition held by the state capital of Munich.
The single-story building now replaces its forty-year-old predecessor. Redesigned and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, it adorns the functional rooms of the incinerator. A farewell room and several small viewing rooms complement the crematorium.
Efficiently planned, with people in mind
Drees & Sommer supported the project team with the tendering process, contract award, and supervision of the construction work. A farewell room and several small viewing rooms, where relatives can say their goodbyes in peace, complete the crematorium.
