In the heart of Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt stands a building that redefines the future of education and sport: the NeckarPark Education Centre. It is an innovative new construction project that combines various uses such as an all-day primary school, special education centre, daycare centre, adult education centre and a two-court sports hall in a harmonious overall concept. With a gross floor area of around 17,000 m², the building offers a forward-looking solution for education and sport. The open spaces are intelligently integrated with the ground floor and upper floor areas, promoting an open, networked learning environment.

The wood-hybrid construction and a 40% green façade with a high proportion of wood characterise the architecture and stand for ecology and sustainability. The project arose from a "plan and build" process, which Wolff & Müller won together with Glück + Partner in 2021.

After an intensive four-year planning and construction phase, the building was handed over to the Stuttgart School Administration Office on schedule in July 2025 and put into operation in September 2025.

Added value

  • Sustainable construction through wood-hybrid construction method and a 40% green facade area with a high wood content
  • Constructive and cooperative collaboration among all project participants (client, general contractor, project management Drees & Sommer)
  • Technical know-how and competencies across all trades, including technical building equipment
  • High added value for the city of Stuttgart through multifunctional use
  • Timely completion despite complex requirements
  • "Lifelong learning," i.e., the connection of daycare, school education, and adult education
  • Intelligent integration of interior and outdoor spaces on very limited property conditions

Services

  • Project management of the entire project (new construction of the education center with adult education center, two-court sports hall, underground parking, and outdoor facilities)
  • Participation in the commissioning of the general contractor

„Sustainability was our guiding principle at the NeckarPark educational centre. With its hybrid timber construction and compliance with the requirements of 'Sustainable Building Baden-Württemberg', we have created a forward-looking building. The fact that the project was awarded the IWS Award 2025 demonstrates its high added value for the city of Stuttgart.“
