Named after the Baroque artists Cosmas Damian and Egid Quirin Asam, the Asam Gymnasium in Munich combines artistic heritage with modern educational architecture. The number of students at the school has grown rapidly in recent years. As a result, the 1960s gymnasium was demolished and replaced with a modern new building. Today, there is a five-story extension building on the site. The new building includes a cafeteria, open learning areas, a triple gym, and an underground parking garage. On the roof of the sports hall is an all-weather court that offers students space for exercise and socializing.

Efficient project management in the heart of the city

Drees & Sommer took over the tendering process and supported the client in the award process. The team was also responsible for project supervision and support. The construction site was located in the city center, which posed special challenges. Road traffic and the tram severely restricted the available space. At the same time, school operations continued as normal, as lessons were to take place with as little disruption as possible. Drees & Sommer dealt with these conditions in a prudent and solution-oriented manner and helped to implement the project reliably and in the interests of all parties involved.
