OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

- Project duration: April 2023 – February 2025
- Area: approx. 5,770 m²

Quest One is a global leader in PEM electrolysis, developing and producing electrolyzers and stacks. These technologies enable reliable and cost-efficient green hydrogen production. The goal is clear: to make a measurable contribution to tackling climate change. This ambition also shaped the new production and development site in Hamburg. The Gigahub, completed in early 2025, translates these values into space. It creates synergies, supports collaboration, and opens new perspectives – for people and the environment.

“Our office concept combines flexibility, functionality, and identity. Open spaces support collaboration. Focus rooms enable deep work. Dedicated areas such as the library, gym, and parent-child room meet individual needs. We use sustainable materials, custom furniture, and a clear spatial concept. The result: a workplace that reflects our culture – open, modern, and future-driven.”

Sustainability Without Compromise – Also in Design

To make Quest One’s sustainable vision tangible, we developed a modern workplace concept under the idea “Catalysis through electrolysis”. The concept translates the core elements of electrolysis – catalysis, water, hydrogen, and electricity – into interior design.

It follows a clear spatial and usage logic. Open, flowing structures create a flexible and diverse work environment. Catalysis describes how a catalyst accelerates a chemical reaction. In the Gigahub, this principle shapes areas for exchange, communication, and collaboration. Water defines spaces for focus and retreat. These areas offer views of nature and use natural materials to support well-being and calm. Electricity stands for activation and connection. It comes to life in open and dynamic shared spaces. Hydrogen represents Quest One’s core business. The spaces linked to it create visual connections to the company’s production halls.

We selected all materials and products with a strong focus on environmental impact. A high share of recycled materials is used. The project aims for DGNB certification and aligns with the “Global Benchmark for Sustainability”.

Lighting That Adds Value

The lighting concept supports both design and function. Circular ceiling lights reference hydrogen and the company logo, while linear lighting creates a clear visual identity. “The lighting is subtle and aligned with acoustic elements. Together with adjustable desk lamps, it improves user comfort,” says Anja Schiemann, lighting designer at Drees & Sommer. Close collaboration across teams made this concept possible – within budget.

A Workplace Built for the Future

The Gigahub combines technology and people-focused design. It offers modern workspaces, a rooftop terrace, a large gym, and accessible, family-friendly facilities. The environment supports exchange and well-being.

Flexible structures enable agile and hybrid work, while the concept allows for future growth. The message is simple: shaping the future starts with the right environment.

“Trust and a shared focus on sustainability made this project stand out. We delivered every aspect without compromise.”
