Hotel Complexes
Locke am Platz, Zurich
Traditional hotel from the 50s successfully revitalized and transformed into a modern hotel.
Built in 1954, the Ascot Hotel belonged to the world football association FIFA until 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was forced to close due to economic reasons. The new owner, the Edyn Group, comprehensively renovated and modernized the former traditional hotel. Since 2023, it has welcomed guests from all over the world as the "Locke am Platz". It is the first property of the British lifestyle aparthotel brand Locke in Switzerland. The six-story building is located right next to the Zurich Enge railway station and the FIFA Museum. In addition to classic hotel rooms, Locke am Platz also offers apartments for longer stays, as well as spacious social areas, a restaurant, and a bar.
Transparency first, followed by effective project control
Drees & Sommer Switzerland supported the Edyn Group throughout the entire project from 2021. During the acquisition process, the team examined the existing building as part of technical and environmental due diligence and assessed the technical, structural, and environmental requirements. Prepared at an early stage, the Red Flag Report identified potential risks and defects, providing the client with the transparency needed to make an informed acquisition decision.
Drees & Sommer continued to represent the client following the transaction and provided quality assurance. Thanks to structured project management, clear decision-making processes, and continuous monitoring of project progression, the client was able to implement the renovation and modernization in a high-quality and sustainable way in just two years.
