Renovation and expansion of existing residential buildings while tenants remained in place, improving tenant satisfaction
Three becomes four. Four becomes five. That's how two projects by the housing company LEG NRW can be summed up. An additional floor has been added to residential quarters in Göttingen and Wolfsburg using timber frame construction. However, LEG has not just "added another storey", but has also comprehensively modernized, upgraded, and renovated the existing buildings to improve energy efficiency and accessibility. The buildings are now also equipped with new elevators and balconies.
Controlled renovation of occupied properties and improved tenant satisfaction
Drees & Sommer supported LEG with project and tenant management as well as technical and economic controlling. As the construction work took place while the buildings were occupied, transparent communication, including a tenant newspaper, was essential. The Drees & Sommer team ensured that the residents were inconvenienced as little as possible.
A particular challenge: LEG took over the apartments from the previous owner when the renovation projects were already well underway. The Drees & Sommer team, which was involved from the outset, was able to act as a source of expertise here.
