The reason for the extension of Jungheinrich’s corporate headquarters is to meet the increased floor space requirement resulting from the company’s strong growth and the Management Board's wish to bring the company's departments together at one location. The extension at Friedrich-Ebert-Damm provides space for around 500 additional staff members, who had previously been spread across additional rented offices at other locations in Hamburg. Around 1,000 people will work at the new company headquarters on a gross floor area totaling 35,000 square meters. The extension also creates space for further growth. Jungheinrich AG has been using the first part of the building since 2015.

Like the first section of the building, the new construction also has a comb structure. In addition to the offices, there is also space for an auditorium, an extension to the staff restaurant, a video conferencing area and training rooms. The two buildings are connected by a glass bridge. The new headquarters were designed by the Hamburg-based architect firm Architekten Prof. Klaus Sill + Assoziierte GmbH.

Dr. Lars Brzoska has taken up the position of Chairperson of the Management Board of Jungheinrich AG. Hans-Georg Frey, the former Chairperson of the Management Board, has been elected Chairperson of the Supervisory Board by the Supervisory Board members. The guests at the celebratory event included Olaf Scholz, Federal Minister of Finance, Kent Nagano, Musical Director of the Hamburg State Opera and the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, as well as the shareholders of Jungheinrich AG, the Wolf and Lange families.
