Hamburg/Bremen – Hanover rail project, Removal of level crossings as parallel measures
Long waiting times will soon be a thing of the past, thanks to the expertise of Drees & Sommer.
Goodbye railroad crossing: In coordination with local authorities, Deutsche Bahn (DB) is planning to remove 12 railroad crossings along the Verden-Nienburg-Wunstorf line.
A road or railroad overpass is planned as a replacement for each crossing, with each project having different conditions. A total of eight road overpasses and four railway overpasses are planned. Due to the poor building ground, extensive ground improvement measures are necessary in some cases.
Increasing safety, reducing susceptibility to faults
The aim is to increase safety along the line and reduce susceptibility to faults by dismantling all technical equipment. This will contribute to the modernization and future viability of the rail infrastructure in Germany.
Drees & Sommer is supporting the client with project management services and engineering expertise. Building while rail services continue to operate is proving to be a challenge, but a well-coordinated, technically skilled team is overcoming this hurdle with a great deal of passion and energy.
