Challenging large-scale urban water management project is on track for success
In view of climate change on the one hand and a long-standing maintenance backlog on the other, infrastructure projects for urban water management are becoming increasingly important.
As part of a multi-project management contract, the specialists at Drees & Sommer are providing Stadtentwässerung Hannover with comprehensive project management and control services. The seven sub-projects are currently still in the planning stage or will be executed by 2025.
Broad range of technical objectives
The objectives range from renovating the sludge treatment system, renewing the media routes, the operating water supply, the operating bridge, and the storage facilities to installing new process control technology and an emergency power system.
This project, which is expected to continue until the second half of the 2030s, presents numerous challenges. These include construction within existing structures while operations continue and space is limited. Added to this is the large number of stakeholders on the part of the client, the planners, and external agencies, all of whom must be precisely coordinated.
Thanks to the trust placed in it, Drees & Sommer has since been able to take on further orders for the customer.
