The Municipality of Käerjeng is building a preschool with an integrated daycare center. Drees & Sommer is assisting the client in project management.
The site for the future building is located in close proximity to the "Op Acker" area at the current location of "Hall 75". The preschool will provide space for 220 preschool children (20 classrooms) as well as a daycare center with a capacity of 154 children. Sustainability and circular economy are important topics in this project. The load-bearing exterior walls are constructed of solid wood and the interior walls have a visible quality identical to that of the ceilings. The exterior walls are insulated with mineral wool. The different facades are clad in four different materials: wooden slats, fiber cement panels, brick, and plaster. The building entrances and stairwells are made of exposed concrete. All flat roofs are intended to be green spaces, with the exception of the playground area (rooftop terrace) on the first floor, which consists of cork cladding. The photovoltaic system is planned for the second floor.
